Houndstooth and Merlot

Houndstooth and Merlot

Got the houndstooth warped up. I’m told the little patterns should appear the same size when looking at them from any direction. I am now attempting to beat the weft into submission, but it’s slow going. Sticky yarn. Too much energy invested in this to turn back now. Must weave on.

Yarn colors – white and ‘merlot’. Didn’t have a cheery or cherry pink. ‘Merlot’. Sounds sophisticated. It can be my fine wine scarf. I can see it now. We’ll be seated at a corner table in a fancy restaurant. The lights are dim. Candles in cut glass holders flickering on the table. The waiter pours the wine. We lift our glasses and clink them together. He drinks his wine down in a single gulp, while I hold my glass daintily in one hand and with the other delicately stroke my houndstooth scarf.
